IPhone much better known as Apple brand was first launched in the year 2007 with the tagline “Apple reinvented the phones with iPhones”. It’s been more than 5 years since the launch of this iconic product and we understand that the phone has modified the dictionary of smartphones and has introduced with all of us a very intelligent connecting device.
Since its launch the iPhone has become the biggest revenue driver for Apple Inc. and today Apple owes as much as 56% of its total revenue to the sales of iPhones.
Every year the launch of iPhone with a new refreshing and interesting feature rock the stock industry. On the very day when iPhone was first launched by Apple Inc., Apple stock raised to $335.26 a share as compared to $122.04 a share a day before. While all other major tech stocks including that of Nokia, HTC, Research Motion fell in value as much as 60%.
Apple’s whole revenue tiltted towards iPhone and the major business of Apple constituted units of iPhones. Latest Apple reported its one quarter revenue as $57.6 billion and more than 56% of which comes form the unit sales of iPhones. It can be clearly seen from the above facts that the share of smartphone market around the world industry has shifted to a great extent to smartphones with Android covering as much as 36%, Symbian 27.4%, iOS 16.8%, RIM 12.9%.
However the new IPhone has to introduce something really exceptional to save Apple from becoming ordinary!!
