Too much of astonishment to the Linux users Nvidia has brought in software for open source programmers. This would advantage Linux of the graphics horsepower in case of the mobile chip of Tegra K1. On Sunday night on the Google + the company’s CMO, Linus Torvalds says that this time he puts a “thumbs up” for Nvidia software which is in sharp contrast to what he said on his speech on 2012 where he wanted to show Nvidia a “middle finger” for being non cooperative with Linux.
Nvidia has chosen to offer proprietary double drivers to enable the different operating systems use their graphic chips instead of their open source software. Torvalds, who has been bold enough to throw scathing views over his management of Linux for years lambasted Nvidia for its stance through his speech on 2012. He even accused Nivida of selling chips to the Android market and according to him it is the worst company they have ever dealt with. On the other hand Alendandre Courbot of Nvidia software, said that the open source software are only for the GPU of the company’s Tegra processor and he also assured us that the GPU will be benefitted from this indirectly though. The new offerings to Nouveau are remarkably proficient step to make the open-source driver works similarly as the Nvidia’s proprietary software.
