Yahoo has put a lot of effort in presenting a new Yahoo to the world in 2013. A lot of it has hinged in improving its mobile business. There has been significant updates to the old apps, about a dozen mobile related acquisitions to pick up talent, technology and products and tests for what Yahoo should focus on next. But even though it has managed to grow its mobile audience this year, it is exiting 2013 on a mobile low note as neither of its apps is in the top 100 chart on the iTunes App store.
Google has five apps-Google search, Google Maps, Gmail, You Tube and Chrome. Facebook has three –Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram. Twiter has two-Twitter and Vine.Yahoo ahs yet to tap into a blockbuster on the platform, it has chosen as its primary one and as a result is finishing 2013 not with a mobile bang but a whimper. Whatever they are doing is not working because people have spoken that they do not want Yahoo apps on their mobile. While Yahoo does not have any bonafide hits in its hand, it is doing alright on Android and continuing to get repeat usage from those who have already downloaded its apps.
